Eating disorders
Christmas

I'm so worried about Christmas. There is just so much calorific food around, its terrifying. I cant sleep at the moment as I am so worried about getting fat. I wish I could enjoy it but I know its going to upset my routines and I.m going to have to eat with others. Does anyone else with an ed struggle through the run up?

Food is everywhere at the moment!
Tins of biscuits, Yule logs, huge turkeys, chocolate baubles - everywhere you look there is some kind of festive food being shoved in our faces!
I don't know the nature of your disorder but if it is a fear of getting fat but not having the willpower to refuse food when eating out, do you think you could mentally assess your plate, cut everything in half and just eat half so that you have all of the taste, have socialised with everyone but haven't eaten a huge amount of calories.
I like to maintain my weight and when faced with a high calorific meal in a social setting, I eat half of every item. It works for me.

Thank you so much Tate, that is really helpful. Yes I am terrified of being fat, my BMI puts me underweight but all I see is the mirror is FAT! I desperately don't want to draw attention to myself at my work or family Xmas dinner. There is no way I could eat a full three course meal without hating myself afterwards. I love your idea and am going to practise it.
