Lost sense of identity

I was born into a bilingual family in Wales. I left aged 18 to go to university. I’ve lived in London ever since.

Have no Welsh accent at all. People only realise I am Welsh when they see or learn my very Welsh name. People perceive me as English.

Has anyone else lost their sense of identity? How do you keep in touch with your roots? I feel lost.

sometimes its knowing your roots to begin with or failing that, making the best of the ones you know are partly roots

Do you speak Welsh? There is a Welsh church in the heart of central London, just off Oxford Street. Their services are bilingual and I was in school with the Minister. A few years ago on my way home to Swansea I popped in after the service to say hello. I had a lovely welcome from him and the parishioners, tea and cake and some impromptu Christmas carols. It was very Welsh and jolly.
