Hi I am currently searching doner sperm . Very overwhelming but so exciting.
many suggestions on what to look out for or avoid.
i have currently been given a list of clinics . London sperm bank seems the best so far .
great forum as haven’t been able to find anything online .

Hi Op. Congratulations! My only advice would be to not get toooo bogged down in the detail as there is so much choice you can find yourself being a bit nit picky. We’ve got 2 donor conceived children and they’re the light of our lives, wouldn’t even know they came from a donor to look at them and I often wonder if it’s because we just see the characteristics that we recognise!

yes I was thinking eye colour, hair colour etc is all irrelevant to me . I am looking more at the characteristics .

it’s been a long process to get where I am. I find it hard to get to excited as no guarantees the ivf will work. I pray & would love to conceive my first . I’m 40 this year.

did you conceive on your first round of ivf ?

No problem! Good luck with it, I always think with IVF - they wouldn’t offer it to you if they didn’t believe it was possible to make it work. The clinics go by their success rates so it’s not beneficial to them to proceed if not realistic. Hope that makes sense!

I had 2 failed rounds of IUI & first round of IVF worked. The donor conception network is good & has good resources for future children, we have good books for our girls about how they were conceived. Other than that we haven’t joined any forums etc - we have a decent network luckily as we are 2 women so a lot of our friends have been through the process and some are even donor conceived themselves. Their experience is largely positive but I am aware of the more negative side (which I have seen donor convinced people say on here). I would take the counselling from your clinic and ask questions on here, there are some good insta pages for donor conceived families too I believe.
