Pre IVF advice

After some to and fro, I’ve decided to go down the IVF route. Donor sperm is on it’s way and have a treatment plan appointment next week. All of this has suddenly made me think about how to plan for hopefully a successful outcome. Initially I was going to do IUI so had been taking the vitamins and folic acid, I had also started weaning off caffeine. I guess I am just looking for advice for how best to prepare for IVF and what others have done that may have helped. I know the clinic will help and explain but just trying to get ahead before the appointments.

There is some evidence for Vit D, CoEnzQ (beware dosage required and some health supplements offering several fold lower), Mindfulness, exercise, eating a balances diet and Acupuncture!

Good Luck!

Look after yourself! Physically & mentally. Eat a healthy balanced diet, stay active, do things that bring you joy whenever you can! Try to take the day off work when it comes to transfer day, scan day etc. I found that helped me not to get so uptight/wound up. Take everything one step at a time and try not to worry about the next bit. Just focus on what you’re doing in that moment.
Best of luck 🍀

You could also look on the Infertility boards as although your reason for needing IVF is different you may find many tips there.

As another poster said, take vitamins, eat well, some people said drink whole milk while on stims but not sure how useful that was!

I found acupuncture to be a waste of time/money (had appointments for over a year so gave it a fair go) but plenty of people like it.

FWIW I think you’re doing the right thing going straight to IVF but check how they will use your vials of sperm and what will be stored for you in case needed in future.
