Donor matching

My partner and I are starting to consider DE IVF. Do you know if UK clinic like London Egg Bank and Care use AI or facial recognition technology to help match donor and recipients?
I've been looking into Fenomatch which is used by some clinics in Spain.

I have 2 children - neither look a bit like me nor like each other.
I am one of five siblings. Only one of us looks like our parent. Don’t get hung up on trying to have a child that looks like their parent.

Ditto. You'll be happier as a family in the long run if you can work on the miracle that is someone else is prepared to help you carry a child of your own, and that child will have the potential to be anything at all and will
be a delightful surprise. You won't be having a mini-me, and that really is ok.

From a slightly different perspective, our child was done conceived and physically they are very much a mixture of donor parent and DH. No end of people tell us that he looks so like me and we put this down to all the mannerism that children naturally mimic from their parents.

We used London Egg Bank and they don't use facial recognition technology but you do have the availability of a 'matching coordinator' through them. We sent photos to her and she replied giving us comparisons and similarities to our shortlist of donors, compared to the photos of me that we sent in, which was helpful.

In my opinion, contacting the clinic directly is the best approach. Additionally, AI technology is evolving quickly, and a clinic might adopt new advancements within a short period of time.

London Egg Bank offers this service but you might find a close physical match is less important once you start looking at profiles. We already had a clear favourite based on the other information available so we didn’t use the photo matching. I reason that there can be a huge range of appearances within a naturally conceived family so it doesn’t really matter.

My baby was conceived using a donor egg through London Egg Bank and I used the clinic’s matching service too. Like the poster above, I ended up going for a donor who they said was an ‘ok’ match to photos of me rather than a ‘close match’ because I preferred the description of the personality of the less good match donor

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I used a donor egg and DH sperm and people are always commenting about the similarity between me and DS when in reality there is very little. People see and say what they think they’re supposed to.
