Hi all,
38; made the decision after two failed ivf rounds to go with donor eggs. Four miscarriages. All chromosome issues- I have eggs they are just terrible quality and no amount of supplements is going to change it.

Please can you throw your recommendations at me?
advice?
clinics?
cost implications?
anything you wish you had known (not necessarily from emotional experience but from a practical)
do you pick your own donor if you go abroad? Seen people talk about matching? What does this entail?
Entering this next level and the more help you can give, the better!

Hi @Hatchyhatch I’m doing DE treatment in Prague. Going for my second transfer next week.
they do matching according to your characteristics/phenotype. They tell if donor has her own kids. they don’t tell the age though. The age is revealed once you are confirmed as pregnant as you will need donor’s age to do Harmony testing etc at 10-12 weeks.

If you're using your partners sperm then get him to do a dna fragmentation test as that may have contributed to the chromosome issues. Don't assume it's just your eggs. Meet with a few clinics and see who you prefer. If you go abroad, I'd recommend buying the associated meds abroad too, so much cheaper than back in the UK.

thanks @Anonemouse1 dna frag already done along with karotyping. All great results. It’s definitely my eggs. That’s good to know; so you can just pick up all the drugs there?

@Hatchyhatch yes, the clinic gives you a prescription and you get it there at the pharmacy. I did both though, bought medicines in London and in Prague.

We used Care Northampton after many pregnancy losses. We went with an altruistic donor. We had 8 usable embryos- 5 made it to blastocyst stage. 2 transferred on fresh cycle and we had our son and 2 frozen. We then did a frozen cycle with 2 remaining embryos and we had our daughter. Both know they are donor conceived - we have always been very open with them. Have a look at the donor conception network for advice, support etc. Both chikdren were born in my forties. Feel free to ask any questions.
