Anyone Used This Egg Donor Bank??

Hey Peeps,

Has anyone had any experience with this bank? I’ve been liaising with the clinical lead there who says they’re now HFEA approved which is great. Any reviews? How many eggs did you purchase, how many blasts did you get and what was the outcome? Searching high and low for a decent egg bank. I want to stay with my current clinic for treatment.

19 eggs, 0 blasts (despite the donor having had children of her own). They offered another 18 replacement eggs for free under their guarantee scheme. However there’s still the cost of treatment plus the ~4K shipping to cover unfortunately.

That is just crazy! Sorry to hear that, it must have been such a stressful time. How awful for you. Like you said the additional cost despite their good will gesture isn’t quite cutting it. Do you think the eggs were poor quality or the skill of the labs?

I sought advice from two doctors who were completely independent of the clinic used, one here and one in the US. Both independently said they thought it most likely that something went wrong during freezing which is a very delicate process. The initial stages of the cycle went well however. Of the 19, 18 survived thaw and 14 fertilised.

I don’t want to put you off them as they’ve been in business quite some time in Europe and must have success stories. Unfortunately it’s difficult to get accurate stats as they’re so new in the UK. I’m assuming that the situation in Ukraine means they’re still having to ship via Slovakia which effectively doubles the cost?

@ListerMummy I understand. When they shipped the 18, did you have any joy with those ones?

Because of the additional high costs involved (at least another £12K realistically), I’m afraid I haven’t so far taken them up on the offer. It felt like too expensive an experiment to repeat and I moved onto other options.

I know what you mean. £12k is freaking wild!
