Selecting characteristics that are important

We are at the stage of selecting which characteristics are important for egg donor to have.

We are with TFP. The way it works is you write a list of your characteristics and a list of other half's and then select if you are happy to have characteristics from just you or other half too.

And anything else that's important to you. Eg education level.

How did you all make the decision process about this?

we didn't, we just asked for the next available donor (egg donor) from
tpf. I had the impression they don't have a huge selection available, and we felt they would all be really kind people which was most important to us

It's really difficult! We are doing sperm donation so a little different, but I think similar considerations when it comes to donor selection.

One thing we did was that I let my DH have the final say, because my genetic material is already in the mix.

Are you using partner sperm or a sperm donor as well? If it's partner sperm then I feel it is more important that you have the final say on the egg donor (although he also needs to be happy of course).

We struggled so much that we ended up making a spreadsheet where we looked at donors and rated them, and anyone we had both rated highly was then considered more carefully.

It's such a difficult thing to do though and we did not find the 'perfect' donor so there were compromises. Best of luck x
