Donor Eggs from the US?

Just wondered whether anyone has used donor eggs from the US and has any recommendations for banks and/or clinics there? I’m reading about lots of people going to Europe but not so much the US.

Hello ListerMummy! I’m having the same problem, I can’t find any recommendations for US donor eggs. Did you have any success with your research? I’d love to hear from you if so. Thank you.

Ahh, a reply at last! ❤️

Shady Grove in DC has a good programme for international patients: https://www.shadygrovefertility.co.uk/donor-egg-treatment/

You can do all the cycle monitoring with a doctor/clinic here in the UK and just go over for the transfer.

Shady Grove have their own in-house donors, however they are non-ID-release. There is therefore also the option to import frozen eggs from a bank which gives you more flexibility. They work particularly with Donor Egg Bank USA but are also open to using others if you ask. There’s a good choice of banks over there.

Donor egg treatment at Shady Grove Fertility allows UK patients access to the USA's leading egg donor programme, including choice and donor anonymity.

Thank you so much for the prompt response ListerMummy. Yes I came across Shady Grove when I was doing some googling, but didn’t realise they had a programme for international patients - that’s great, I’ll read up on it! May I ask if you’ve decided to use them? I’d love to hear more, feel free to PM me if you’d prefer.

Also, did you come across an online site called ‘Tulip’, it appears to be a service that aggregates all the donor databases across the US into one place, to make the search a little bit easier. Sounds great, but the site isn’t very easy to use and they want your payment details up front for access to donor profiles - which would be fine other than I haven’t come across anyone that’s used it and what they thought of it.

I was going to go to Shady Grove and had selected a donor from Fairfax Bank whose eggs I was going to buy frozen. However I already have sibling sperm I’d like to use and that can’t be imported to the US unfortunately. So the US is not an option for me at present, although I’m keeping it in mind for if the sperm gets used up and it becomes necessary to start again with a new donor.

Right now I am looking into ways to import eggs from the US to Europe instead. I hadn’t heard of Tulip. Sounds like it could be a useful resource? I keep coming across more and more banks I’d never even heard of. The level of selection really is very good over there. Hopefully one day Europe will catch up in terms of frozen egg banks.

Sorry to hear the Fairfax donor didn’t work out, that’s disappointing to get that far only to discover you can’t import the sibling sperm. That would be amazing if you could bring the eggs to the UK, I’ll keep everything crossed you can find a way of making it work.

I know Cryos have US egg donors and I got the impression from their website that they can ship the eggs from the US to Cyprus (and a number of other countries) for treatment. I wonder if you could find a midway point like this.

I have an own egg child and really want a sibling, but IVF hasn’t worked this time around (after multiple tries) so donor eggs are our best chance. Part of the reason why I’m very keen on the US is the selection of donors and also the ability to see photos. I wish I could leave it to the specialists to match me with someone, but I really want to have some control over this part of the process.

We sound similar as I also have an own egg child. I feel exactly the same about the selection of donors and the ability to view photos in the US.

Looks like the US is back on the cards for me now, so I’ll send you a PM…

Ladies I would love to know how your journeys went. Following 4 unsuccessful egg retrievals with the Evewell in London I am now looking at Donor Eggs (I'm now 41 and have an own egg 3yo). I really like the level of info and photos from the US banks and am seriously considering going with a US donor for this reason provided they would consent to ID release in case the baby would want to have some contact when they turn 18.

Any experience you could share would be great to hear. ATM I am considering the Shady Grove WA facility with an open ID donor from the Donor Egg Bank USA
