Black egg donor

Hello can anyone help? I’m thinking about going down the route of using an egg donor. I tried ivf (no success), the cost of the treatment in the UK is very expensive (from what I have researched) and there is a shortage of black egg donors.
which country abroad could help us? also what’s the process. I am open to the idea of using someone else’s eggs. My husband is white. (sperm morphology) we are both in our late 40’s. I have never been pregnant. I just hope there is a light at the end of a dark tunnel. Thank you for your help

I haven't tried it, but when we researched after doing it in the UK (our Borough has 1 free on the NHS) and it failed Cyprus was recommended by a friend who used it to concieve her daughters so may be a place to start.

I wish I had more to offer but we went a different route after the IVF.

Good luck OP x

Does Cyprus allow known donors? I would check the rules with the HFEA to see what is possible as you cannot use anonymous donated gametes in the U.K, you certainly cannot have them imported.

There may also be limits on receiving treatment abroad due to your age unfortunately as each country has its own fertility laws and restrictions.

i just looked into it and Spain is more flexible in terms of age. So therefore I would be looking at having the treatment abroad that seems to be the easiest option. Thanks for your response

I think it’s important to consider the ethnic origins and if you are best placed to support a subsequent child understand thier origins and history culture ect

This has been given considerable consideration.

Would you prefer an anonymous or non anonymous donor? I am looking at both Spain and Portugal for treatment, but leaning towards Portugal as think I'm more comfortable with non anonymous. Not black myself but when researching Portuguese clinics all seem to advertise themselves as having black donors available. In terms of the process I'm only just getting started in terms of researching it all myself, but happy to share what little knowledge I have, as I accumulate it, if you have any specific questions. If you have the funds and willingness to travel I feel like there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel, as the statistics for DE IVF are very reassuring!

Forgot to add the most important part, which is that like Spain, Portugal will treat you up to the age of 50.

We’re undecided at present in terms of choosing which option ( anonymous etc). I’m keen to read your findings, do feel free to message me. I’m seeing my fertility doctor next week so I may have some information myself to share with you. ( regarding clinics and etc) Thanks for your response

I can see this post is a couple of months old but I can recommend Spanish clinics in terms of ease of success, organisation and travel. I am 44 and my husband is in his late 40s and out baby girl was born in June. I couldn’t love her more. The clinic I used advertise having donors of different ethnicities. A lot of clinics offer free online consultations or you can just fill out an online inquiry form to find out if they meet your requirements.
