Donor conception

Active donor conception forums/ support?

It's so quiet on this donor coneption area of mumsnet, I wish there were more people participating in the chats.

I know there is the donor conception network but that seems to be heavily WhatsApp based and I don't really use WhatsApp. There are also the infertility/ IVF forums here but donor coneption is such a specific journey, I would really like to talk about it with people who understand.

Does anyone know of any online support forums/ groups for donor coneption that are actually active? Particularly sperm donation but I'd be interested in egg/ embryo donation also!

Have tried Facebook? Lots of groups on there.

I love the solo mother by choice uk group. Not sure if you’re wanting to be smbc or not though so that group might not work for you.

but I’m sure there’s a fb group for you, though that only works if you’re on fb.

There's quite a lot of groups on Facebook, a couple which are more about undergoing IVF and then a fair few for parents of donor conceived children

If anyone has any further info on good Facebook (or otherwise)groups for parents with donor conceived children I’d be interested - many thanks.

Try

parents of donor conceived children
Parents via donor conception
Donor conception discussion group
Egg donor baby mamas
Child centred parents
UK donor conceived chat

Some are more weighted toward international members and some of the discussions can get a bit heated depending on the group. You need to join and get a feel for yourself really

Hi all, do you know if I join some of these FB groups does that remain private? This is a very difficult journey and we haven’t shared it with family/friends yet - don’t want or need the pressure that would bring. I’m aware that not all FB pages are private and would worry that my posts etc would be seen by family/friends. Any advice?x

Best as I know they are all private groups, and you have to request to join but it should say in the details if they are open or not
