DE embryo same grade as OE embryo

Yesterday I had my first DE transfer, a 4BB. The embryologist was positive about the grading but I can’t help feel slightly disappointed as I had a 4BB graded embryo with OE last year which didn’t implant. I guess I just hoped that by using someone half my age we would achieve a better grading - I know others factors come into play.
Looking for some positive stories - has anyone ever transferred 2 embryos with same grading and one be unsuccessful then one be successful?

I have no experience but wanted to say I'm keeping everything crossed for you and bump the post xx

Hi OP
I can’t recall the exact grading of my DE embryos - DD is one nearly one. However I know I only had one donor blastocyst at A grade which didn’t implant and DD was B (I think 4BB) and I’d had a number of higher grade embryos including a hatching blastocyst from my own egg ivf which failed. Grading is only one element of it all. Good luck.

Remember that the grading doesn't tell you about the chromosomes. Your chances of a "normal chromosome" embryo are much improved with the donor egg. Good luck xx

I don't pay attention to grading. I have had IVF. I have had AA embryos fail twice, AB fail twice, BB fail once. My 6 year old was BB or BC, I had 2 implanted but we lost one at 6 weeks. Currently nursing a CC, or a DC, we lost her wee twin at 10 weeks. So our best embryos were not the ones that made my children.

@positivethoughts1 thank you so much

@GreyGoose1980 thank you for sharing, interesting to hear, and congratulations on your DD!

@Greenlee thanks for reminding me, it’s true a 4BB with DE of someone 20 years younger than me is much more likely to be a better quality despite same grading

@Snugglemonkey thanks is for sharing, needed to hear this! Congratulations on your 2 children!

Similar thing happened to me and l was rather put out. But it’s a bit of a “beauty contest” is my understanding and doesn’t actually confirm the actual quality of the inside

@EL8888 thank you. On OTD I got a BFB! A dye stealer too, so happy!
thing is I’ve now tested positive for covid so now really worried about that 😫

@Hopewishprayer congrats! Make sure you have plenty of fluids and take it easy -lm assuming you know Lemsip, Night Nurse aren’t allowed during pregnancy. I had covid at 32 weeks pregnant and everyone was fine. But l know it’s stressful finding that out, especially at this point

Hopewishprayer · 31/03/2023 07:22

@EL8888 thank you, yes ive not taken anything, my symptoms are relatively mild so hopefully no impact. Thanks for sharing glad everything went well for you x

I'm currently pregnant with my 4BB :)

kikisparks · 31/03/2023 08:13

Congrats! My 4BB embryo is a toddler singing and dancing to nursery rhymes now :) the 4AA embryo I had implanted first looked “perfect” but resulted in a chemical pregnancy.

kikisparks · 31/03/2023 08:13

Sorry 5BB not 4BB but basically the same thing.

Hopewishprayer · 31/03/2023 10:43

@catchthedog congratulations! How far along are you? I am 5+1 😊
@kikisparks sorry you had to go through a chemical. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to it. Just praying this one does stick around and the covid doesn’t have any impact x
