Donor egg IVF in Estonia

Hi all, I’m a 44 year old who’s dreamed of having children since I wrote lists of clothes for “my babies” out of the mothercare catalogue when I was 7. After 5 rounds of failed IVF over the years, I’ve finally faced the reality that donor eggs are my only chance. Estonia (and Ukraine!) seem to be the only country that allows single woman IVF and gives any info about the egg donor except, essentially, her gender 😄 does anyone have experience there? I’ve had the first consultation with Next Fertility Nordic and they seem a bit chaotic (hadn’t read my notes, have asked me if I’ve been in touch with the drug provider?!) - anyone used them? Thanks in advance x

Hello @FC78! I'm a solo mum of 16 year old twins so I've been where you are now!! Just a quick question. Have you looked at other countries which have ID release at 18 for your child? e.g. UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Portugal? There is at least more information in Estonia than Spain for example so that is a positive!

I have children via anonymous donor and it has made a difference to them. i would definitely think about joining the Donor Conception Network where you will find a community of over 600 singel women, some further ahead of you who have used clinics all over the world. Do think about the implications of anonymous donors.

Best wishes,
C

Sorry about the typos! Was eating my dinner and typing at the same time!

Thanks so much - as well as anonymous/non-anonymous I want more info about the donor, in the same way you can get info about donor sperm - I find it strange that in so many countries they’ll give you very basic info about something so important. Estonia and Ukraine seem to be among the only places that give detailed info about donors :) thanks so much for your tips, I’ll definitely follow the Donor Conception Network x

Hi- my husband and I went to Estonia for IVF with donor eggs as I have Baltic origins. Firstly, there is a world of difference between Estonia and Ukraine. I love Ukraine but Estonia is very small and- is the wealthiest of the Baltic states. Tallinn is like a high-tech version of Geneva. Healthcare is super regulated (and obv EU rules apply). Bear in mind the process in Estonia is anonymous and you don’t get much more info than you would in the uk (no photos).
I’ve had a great experience with Next Fertility Nordic. After a natural pregnancy we had to terminate at 16 weeks for non-chromosomal abnormalities and two failed euploid transfers in the UK, we’ve just had a positive after our first go with donor eggs with them. The clinic is amazingly high tech and the doctors are great.
Their comms is a tad confusing at first- they are the go to for people in Scandinavian countries, Germany etc so don’t have that many UK patients. Insist on speaking to the donor coordinator personally (her English is better than she thinks!).to get more details of the donor (interests etc). I did that and it totally put my mind at rest. Their approach is more medical than the “positive energy, vibes etc” approach friends have had in the uk with some donor coordinators but they are calm, compassionate and really know their stuff. DM me if you have any other qs- I tend to avoid a lot of the fertility boards as they can make you go slightly insane but happy so speak from my direct experience with them.

@Pelena12 @FC78 I'm really interested in this too. But I'm confused about the comments about having more info in Estonia than elsewhere. When I looked at clinics' websites the only info seemed to be the typical age, bloodtype, weight stuff. Do the clinics provide more?

Hiya, sorry I meant you can use Eg Cryos donor eggs which give you a lot of info Eg psychological profile, parent’s medical history etc. Some profiles even have adult photos.

Hi, I have no experience but here is the list of 18 clinics that offer IVF DE for single women: https://www.fertilityclinicsabroad.com/search-results/?_sf_s=single%20&_sft_treatments=egg-donation. By using filters you can find info you need. Hope this helps.
