@Hailey12 When going to antenatal clinic when you are pregnant, they never ask CMV, that's what I experienced. I don't understand much about CMV but I heard it does affect something but don't worry midwives and doctors are smart with those things, try not to worry so much about CMV. Midwives test everything and check eveything anyway so don't worry.

@Hailey12 I had a test that showed I hadn't had CMV so I chose a donor that was negative

So if in doubt go for negative as you don't want to get CMV for the first time when pregnant.

Yes that’s what I’ve been looking for! Just not having any luck finding a donor!

Hello, have you chosen your donor yet? Just jumping on as I had the same problem, I tested as neg to CMV but couldn't find a neg donor. So, I had a google and asked around a bit, and found some useful info from sperm banks: CMV is like chicken pox in that once you have it, it will show in your blood as you having antigens. It can cause problems for baby in pregnancy but only if mother has an active infection. It can be passed on via sperm which can cause active infection if the male has an active infection at the time BUT donors are screened to check they don't have an active infection, and then sperm is quarantined for 6 months and washed- apparently there is no risk from frozen sperm, or at least this is what I found.
I went for a positive donor. But you need to go with what you feel comfortable with. Good luck 🙂
