Hi

Im currently talking to somebody on coparents, he seems like a decent guy and I'm usually quite good at sussing people out. He's happy to do some tests for me for the CMV virus and carrier screening if needed. I asked if he would go to a clinic with me but he said he had tried when he was at uni and found it very cold and clinical. He's happy to chat via email and then on Skype so we can see if we click etc. isn't local to me so no chance of bumping into each other etc.

Just looking to see if anyone else has been down this route and their thoughts etc? Because I'm CMV negative my options are very limited with a approved donor website and I'm not keen on spending £3,000 for the clinic if it won't work, as I only get SMP so want to make sure I've saved enough to cover the first 9 months. Im also nearly 39 so don't want to delay starting any longer than planned.

I'm currently TTC with a coparent from coparents so slightly different to a donor as we will be raising the child together. But I would trust yourself and your gut feeling about him and also make sure you clarify the method of conception. I was only open to insemination either at home or in a clinic and found that a lot of guys on coparents wanted to do "natural insemination" which I was not on board for. Definitely Skype with him and get to know him and be really clear on what you want from him and what your boundaries are. I would ask him a bit about his motivations too. I spent 18 months getting to know my coparent before we made a plan to TTC but that's a bit different as we will be parenting together so there's more involvement. Good luck 🤞🏻
