Hi everyone this is my first post. I’m currently 31 looking to become a mum on my own. I’ve looked into IUI but haven’t booked any appointments yet as money has been slightly tight. I’ve had a cystic fibrosis test through the nhs as in the family. I am not a carrier so now want to look at process.
I need a bit of advice as don’t know anyone who has done it on there own.

I'm finally a Solo Mum to be (now 7 months pregnant) - but I'm much older than you at 40 as it has been years of IUI's and IVF's to get here!

First steps would be looking at the HEFA website for clinic options/statistics and contacting clinics close to you to discuss things like what tests they say you need first, prices and what sperm banks they use. You might also want consider joining the Donor Conception Network charity for advice.

At 31 you should have time to save up, which is great as both the initial fertility work up (bloods, scans and possible HSG etc) and the IUI's (plus donor sperm) are quite pricey - however it's not as expensive as IVF which is often recommended as the preferred option once you are mid/late thirties or older.

Hope it all goes well for you Smile.
