Lister or go abroad?

Anyone had donor egg treatment at The Lister and cares to share their experience?

We were thinking of going to Institut Bernabeu but now thinking of staying in England due to covid.

Having missed out twice (thank you lockdowns one and two!) on going abroad, I would strongly suggest staying in the uk. The amount of pain, upset and cost for the cancelled visits isn’t anything I would wish on anyone.

We recently did a donor cycle at IVI Valencia. It was just before Omicron hit so things would be a little less predictable now but we didn't find it too taxing, especially as you only need to go out once for an initial consultation / sperm sample and once per transfer. It would have been more difficult for a stimulation cycle but that's not an issue with donor eggs.

They are more advanced in Spain with their IVF techniques and their success rates are better. They also have a better source of donor eggs - we spent 18 months trying to find a suitable donor (through banks, agencies, fresh donors at our clinic) and got nowhere, being repeatedly let down by the donors or organisations. Going to Spain was the right solution for us. The fact that the donor will remain anonymous is not what we would choose ideally but not something that was determinative for us.
