Donor egg failure

What do you do if your donor egg cycle fails? What's the next step?

My first donor cycle failed. Second and third worked

NotMyDayJob · 28/07/2021 08:56

Do you have any embryos frozen?

greendress789 · 28/07/2021 08:57

Have one frozen but don't feel hopefull😢

@2021hwg did you do FETs or completely new cycles?

2021hwg · 28/07/2021 08:58

Have you tried the uterine scratch. I had that before my second and third cycle and it worked.

Second was frozen, third was fresh

greendress789 · 28/07/2021 09:02

Yes have had the scratch 🙂

I know it hard but try and be as positive as you can. You have a good chance next time with the frozen embryo. I think the drs learn with every cycle

gettingolderbutcooler · 28/07/2021 09:08

Yes! First didn't work then new cycle 6 months later did. It's sooo worth it. Good luck xxx

greendress789 · 28/07/2021 09:15

Thank you everyone. Feel so down after so many failed OE cycles too. And all the money we've spent too. 😢

It's very hard, and I remember the pain of people saying "be positive" "it will
Work". It feels like your life is in hold.

Just try and get your self in the best place physically and mentally before you try again.

greendress789 · 29/07/2021 12:42

And financially 😢

Hi @greendress789, think we were on another thread last year, sorry about what you’re going through. I am getting ready for next FET in October but since my last failed transfers we have done: ERA, tested my husbands Sperm DNA (including single and double fragmentation), immune testing including for TPO antibodies. We found issues in all of these 😭 and trying to fix/treat before our next cycle. Have you also done these?

greendress789 · 29/07/2021 15:37

Hi Paris, sorry to hear you are going through this. We have had dna fragmentation done before and this wasn't an issue. I've had immunes done with Dr Gorgy and there were some issues there which we tested. What issues did you have? 😌

OP posts:
Parisinthesummer · 29/07/2021 16:53

@greendress789 we found that I have high antibodies so I will take a steroid for the next transfer and for 10 weeks after if BFP🤞🏻 Also had an issue with my lining which I took antibiotics for and will be doing another biopsy before next round! It’s non stop, exhausting but we are working through each thing.

greendress789 · 29/07/2021 17:45

Good luck :)

I'm on hydroxy. I had the scratch and they tested my endometrium for high NK cells which came back normal. I've also had lymphocyte immunisation therapy.

Persipan · 01/08/2021 07:07

I did another one. Which also failed. And then another one, which didn't

greendress789 · 01/08/2021 18:23

Thank you for sharing your stories. So broken at the moment. Spent so much money, we're talking £50k plus. Husband doesn't want to try again as he doesn't believe it will happen for us. Having an awful time but having to pretend and put a brave face on to everyone. Why is it so hard to have what everyone else has so easily?

Hi

We have had 5 failed donor embryos. The first fresh transfer ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks the remaining 4 FETs didn’t implant despite being great quality 5 day blasts.

I’ve done immune testing, thrombophilia testing, hidden infection testing and had a hysterocospy and everything is normal.

My husband has low sperm count, poor morphology but DNA fragmentation is good. We thought we could get over these issues by using MACs and ICSI.

The only test we haven’t done is karyotyping. I’m now going down the rabbit hole of thinking my husband might have some sort of translocation issue. Has anyone had these tests done? X
