Anyone doing DE in July

I thought I’d start a new thread for anyone going through DE treatment this month. This is my second DE cycle after failed ivf with my OE and some implantation clinic investigations. It would be good to hear from anyone else in a similar situation!

I'm looking to cycle again soon, possibly in July or August. Like you, I've had OE failed cycles and my first DE cycle also failed. I'm debating going straight into another transfer or getting implantation testing done, so would be interested in your experience - where you went, what you were tested for, treatment plan etc - if you're happy to share?

Hi @Olddog7

Hope you are okay. Sorry for the delayed response, starting oestrogen at a higher dose put me in a bit of a fog last week!

I recently had an ERA test which was normal / receptive and also MLI which showed I had an under active NK immune profile in my endometrium. The NK cells testing is still a bit controversial an area of medicine but it’s been useful to hear one possible answer if that makes sense.

I didn’t want to PG test so was not sure if it was an issue with egg or endometrium. I did a lot of transfers with OE of seemingly good blastocysts but as we had MF issues too and I was late 30s / 40 at collection both the egg and sperm could have been a factor so we only did implantation testing when my first DE failed.

They advised I do a scratch which wasn’t pleasant but wasn’t too bad. I am being treated for low progesterone as they also tested my blood levels during my medicated cycle and mock cycle and both were low. My last clinic didn’t do this and just prescribed progesterone injections for my next cycle after 2 failed transfers but apparently that’s not always the answer.

How are things going with you? I think the number of transfers you’ve done and whether you used PG tested embryos for your OE ivf are useful factors to consider when deciding when to spend the money on implantation testing.

What tests does your clinic offer? My clinic don’t do EMMA and ALICE but I will also try and do these independently if this cycle doesn’t work.

Thanks for this information, I'll definitely look into EMMA and ALICE testing - haven't come across this before. I didn't start OE IVF until I was close to 42, so knew my chances were slim but always had good looking blasts, so remained hopeful. No PGS testing on OE or the DE cycle which failed and not sure I'd go down that route. Did get pregnant with an OE cycle (MMC at 9 weeks) so clinic say ERA isn't necessary as I must have a 'normal' receptivity window.
At my last consultation they said research suggests that embryo issues account for 97% of failed cycles, so keep going until you find the right embryo is their advice!
Are they changing the protocol based on your NK results? When is transfer planned for? Really hope this is the magic embryo for you!

Hi
The only change they suggested was more progesterone, a scratch and a small dose of hsg. I think for me the progesterone blood test has been key.
Thanks for the good wishes, transfer is next week!! When are you starting? Hope this cycle goes well for you!

How are you getting on @GreyGoose1980?

GreyGoose1980 · 04/08/2021 20:58

Hi @greendress789
Hope you are okay. I’m not great as got a BFP but have recently experienced a lot of spotting and cramping at 5 plus 3/4. Have a viability scan booked for next week but not too hopeful based on my symptoms being the same as past losses. Am just waiting it out at the moment. Obviously if I start to bleed intensely I’ll know I’m out but at the moment i’m in a state of limbo. Hope others on the thread are doing better x

Congrats on the BFP but I'm so sorry to hear about the bleeding. I hope it turns out ok. Fingers crossed. Please keep me posted.

I sent you a PM a week or so ago btw...

GreyGoose1980 · 05/08/2021 08:36

Thanks @greendress789
Sorry missed the PM but haven’t been on here as much recently. Will keep you posted. Hope all is okay with you x
