How many rounds of iui did you have before you fell pregnant? Or did it not work and you moved on to ivf? Thanks.

I am on my second try. Hoping this is going to be it. So hard not to get your hopes up.

Goof luck @Tasha1607 may I ask what your circumstances are? It’s so hard not to get your hopes up. I’m really trying to find a balance.

@mabel9 thank you. I'm in a same sex couple. We had our first attempt in February. We classed that as our practise run. We felt so overwhelmed and trying to keep calm and stress free was so hard when you are going through it the first time. It was disappointing to find out we wasn't pregnant but your body talks to you. So I knew I wasn't pregnant the first round. And it's been frustrating with lockdown waiting to have that second attempt. But you've got to have the Covid test first. Which was annoying as last month we had to postpone again because my period was early! Ironically!
The nurses have said it's better to have a break between each round. Allows the body to go back to normal.

@mabel9 you've just got to stay positive and remember the reasons you are doing it. It will happen when it's meant to happen. That's what my partner says. I know she is right. But id never let her know that Smile

@Tasha1607 I’ve only started to worry more the closer it gets. Did you have a medicated cycle? I’m going for an unmedicated so I don’t know if that makes a difference to have back to back cycles. How did the clinic check when you were ovulating? Sorry for all the questions! Good luck to you and your partner 😊

@mabel9
Ask away! I wish I did when I first started. There's never too many questions Smile
I am on Gonal F every day and Burserelin every other day. Injections.
On my first round I went in for my baseline scan on my third day of my period as I had come on over the weekend. I started taking the injections straight away from that scan. And I had a scan every two days to make sure that dose I was on was the correct one and was my body was responding.
They checked that at least 1 or 2 of my eggs we're growing and once they got to 18mm then they had a review to inseminate. I had to go home and wait for the call to take the last injection of Ovitrelle. As soon as I got that call I had to take the Injection and 36 hours later I was in the hospital getting inseminated. I think all in all from start to finish it was 11 days. ( I had a little mis hap where I had finished a night shift very tired and I had double doses of the Burserelin before my last scan, it didn't make a different if anything it help because I had one huge egg that has grown massively in 2 days)
I went into the hospital with my partner and it's a very strange experience but the doctor was very gentle and calming. They make you check the sperm to make sure it is the right donor. And then they inseminate. Quite a comfortable experience I would say and takes seconds. After that I was laid with my legs in the air for about 20 minutes before getting ready to leave the hospital. I then started taking pessaaries inserted into the vagina to help with the womb lining. And that was the dreaded 2WW! And it dragged. I had all the symptoms of a pregnancy which I think is what most woman struggle with. But when it came to test day my brain was telling me I wasn't pregnant so subconsciously I knew even though you are so excited and hoping it has worked.
I think what helped me through it all was being realistic and still saying to myself I hope I am pregnant but you know what if I am not, it's okay.
Putting too much stress on yourself doesn't help. Think positive and chill.

@mabel9 sorry for the long post. But I hope this helps. If you have any questions.. ask away.

mabel9 · 19/07/2020 14:04

@Tasha1607 thank you much! I truest appreciate you answering my questions and it helps so much to hear your experience. Can I ask why you went for a medicated iui cycle? Or did your clinic advice you to?

@mabel9 my clinic just recommended it. And then they said if the 3 rounds do not work we can go onto IVF.
