Is anyone doing unmedicated IUI ?

Looking for others doing something similar to us. We're having our second round of unmedicated IUI next week-hopefully. Waiting for ovulation. First round was pretty easy but no BFP. Same sex couple. Also doing acupuncture alongside and working on keeping stress levels down.

Hi OP. Yes, that's our (initial) plan too.

I had the fertility tests to make sure we weren't completely wasting our time and money and that all came back good. Also been tracking my cycle and seem to ovulate on the same day.

Obviously there are no guarentees and sometimes infertility is unexplained, but I do have a dc from a previous relationship, so that gives me a little more hope.

Have you had any fertility tests OP? Can I ask how old you are? Can I also ask if you went with a known donor, i.e, not a sperm bank? We are probably going to be going through a sperm bank, although there is now only one which delivers straight to your home.

I've heard very good things about acupuncture and pregnancy, so fingers crossed! Smile

@mumofoneortwo hello 😊 we are using Cryos sperm bank and I am 33. My GP did all the tests and it all seems to be fine so here's hoping. Are you doing home insemination? We are attending a clinic in Denmark.

Ah, I see. I've heard of a few women doing that. How does that work, timing wise? I would worry I'd miss my ovulation. How long do you stay? Doesn't it work out a lot more expensive to travel over there?

Yes, we're hoping to, but I'm so worried about getting it wrong!

eatanazurecrayon · 02/02/2020 11:47

@mumofoneortwo no it's much cheaper. We just fly the day we get a positive ovulation test then get the IUI the next morning

But what if you can't get a flight? Do you still have to pay for your appointment? Can I ask roughly how much you're paying for the whole process?

Sorry to be bombarding you with questions! Confused

@mumofoneortwo you don't book the appointment until you have a positive lh. They fit you in the next day. It's Copenhagen, there's flights every day direct quite cheap or you can go through London. IUI is £450ish and flights and hotels make it about £800-£1000 all in. We could make it cheaper but we usually stay a few nights and make a mini break out of it.

Hello!

I am just starting IUI and going for an unmedicated round initially. All my fertility tests have come back normal, we are using donor sperm. (Male infertility)

This cycle it looks like i will ovulate on the weekend so they are scanning me Thursday and if there is a big enough egg they are going to give me the trigger shot to being on ovulation and inseminate the next day (Friday). I am not sure what to think of this!

Good luck to you both! If this doesn't work first time (which is unlikely statistically!) I think the clinic will recommend clomid to up the chances.
On the one hand I'd like to just stay on a natural cycle but we are very limited to 3 financially so we may move onto medicated for the 2nd one.

eatanazurecrayon · 04/02/2020 07:49

@SteffieIUI it looks like I am also ovulating at the weekend! Where are you based? If all your ferris blood work cane back great then your chances are decent for within the first 2-3 times! Positive attitude 😊 best of luck

Hi :)

Myself and my partner have not long had our first round of unmedicated IUI (currently on 9dpiui/dpo) and this is the longest week(s) of our life! We are a same sex couple and used a clinic in Manchester. Very expensive but we have chosen to pay for three rounds so just hoping we get lucky and get our bfp within these three rounds. Good luck to everybody and I truly wish you all the best and I hope you get your bfp soon :) Poppy x

SteffieIUI · 05/02/2020 21:28

Hi @Pops92x that's exciting! Ahhh so hard waiting are you planning to test soon?

I go in for a scan tomorrow to see how I look but it's only day 12 and no positive OPK signs but they wanted to bring me in before the weekend. They said if I have a big enough egg developing I could have the trigger shot, how did your cycle work ??
