Getting all the tests- did gp surgery agree to do?

I'm starting the journey of receiving donor embryo and there is a big list of tests that are needed.
Did anyone's gp do them or, as I suspect, did they say you'd have to go private.

Mine didn’t! The clinic gave me a letter asking the GP surgery to carry out the tests. I gave it to a nurse, who checked with a GP, who said “no”. They did say they could do a couple of the tests - I think one was the Chlamydia screening and I can’t remember the other one. But this didn’t save me any money as I ended up having to buy the “package” of tests from the clinic.

You haven’t given much detail, but it might depend on your ‘journey’. They’re unlikely to do tests if you’re not entitled to NHS care for fertility treatment, but you might be able to get odd test done like a chlamydia screen, but those ones are relatively cheap.

Yeah, I should have said that I had IVF at a private clinic.

I had IUI at a private clinic and my GP did the tests. It was a hassle getting them to certify that the lab they used conformed to the requirements of the clinic, and the results were slow, but ultimately it all worked out. Good luck!
