I'm currently on my 4th donor egg IVF cycle (due to premature ovarian failure and early menopause).
I can't say a personal thank you to my donor due to the anonymity laws, so I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the women out there who altruistically donate eggs or who share their eggs as part of an IVF programme. I can't describe how much it means to my husband and I to even have a chance at a family - we wouldn't have that chance at all if it weren't for you. I know this is a cliche but it's a priceless gift and I think about my donors every day, and say a silent thank you.
To the women who have completed their families and want to give others the chance to have a baby - thank you. Putting yourself through all the drugs and scans and egg collections for no benefit to yourself is amazingly selfless. You are heroic.
To the women who share their eggs as part of an IVF programme - you are so incredibly brave to share your precious cargo; it must be so difficult for you and I wish everyone who made this sacrifice was rewarded with a successful outcome for themselves. It must be an emotional minefield and I admire your strength and courage.
