We had our first failed cycle over Christmas and are starting another this summer. I had 6 good follies but only 2 eggs and doc has recommended DHEA supplements. Anyone tried it?

I have been taking DHEA on recommendation from specialist. I have not conceived but want to try everything which may make a difference. You have to order from USA as it can't be bought in UK. I got mine on amazon. Also recommend taking CoQ10 400-600 mg (most is much lower concentration) I get mine from Nature's best. Good luck. It is heartbreaking. Very often the second response is much better as they know how you will respond. I got pregnant on my second ICSI but unfortunately lost twins at 8 weeks. How old are you? I am now looking at Donor eggs - I have had 4 ICSI's and I am too old now to continue. I wish you every success.

I used DHEA in preparation for IVF (aged 43) last year. I also bought from the US. It was called Micron5 DHEA 25 mg 180 sr tabs from McPherson labs. Came in good time. No problems.

I can't say what effect it had because I haven't done IVF without it. My response was good for age (good quality embryos but none to freeze) but failed nonetheless. I didn't have any side effects - except losing more hair than usual but that could have been completely unrelated as I was recently bereaved. I'm sorry it's very hard not knowing what to throw into the mix, it can feel quite hopeless.

I'm very sorry for your loss IdeRuben that must have been an awful time.

I'm also considering DE but finding the decision very complicated- not for genetic factors in my case - but mostly wondering if I should invest more money in case it doesn't work. Also I don't think my in laws would understand at all and I wonder how that would affect a future child. Hmmmm.

Wouldn't it be nice to decide you want a baby (or a sibling for your child in my case) and just have to work out extra costs of holidays/ space in the house/ clothes rather than treatment that might not work.

Hi I was advised to take DHEA for my third ivf. I had gone to a new clinic with my notes as the first clinic where we had 2 cycles were crap. I also did research into which clinic had the best live birth outcomes via ivf with women in my age range (I was 38 at the time). New consultant recommended taking DHEA for 3 months pre ivf started taking it in the January and fell pregnant in February naturally- my pfb is now 16 months old and we are embarking on ttc #2 so I will be going back to DHEA. I was lucky and had no side effects either. I got mine from Biovea recommendation from the consultant. Good luck feel free to DM me if you have any questions.
