IUI and work

Hi my DP and I are having our first go at IUI this month (it is my DP that will be carrying the child). DP period due tomorrow and then we start the trips to the clinic to see when she is ready for insemmination. Clinic is a 4 hour round trip for us so I will not make every trip but obviously want to make the main one! So what I am asking is did many people have a probably getting the spontaneous next day off work with little notice ? Did anyone tell their employer? My manager can quite easily not be in the office to ask / be unreasonable about late notice requests.

I told my manager that I was having fertility treatment which would mean that once a month I would need a day off at very short notice. I then made up the time later in the week.

Fertility treatment is stressful enough without having to make up stories for time off!

I know I probably should however we haven’t told anyone we are doing it,so to tell my manager,who never mentions the fact I have a girlfriend, what we are doing seems strange. She also has form for passing on other people’s private information

Can you just say your partner needs to attend some medical appointments and some might be short notice? It’s not a lie, and as it’s not you she is unlikely to ask questions about the nature of it?

@Drunkandstupidagain Bit of a zombie thread but I am experiencing the exact same condundrum. Manager is quite old fashioned and when someone was speaking to her about IVF before, she said "ooh its very 'design a baby' isn't it".

I should tell her but I am not ready. However I am also uncomfortable with lying. I recentluy got promoted so feel a bit shitty too.
