Hi everyone. I'm off to Prague today for my FET - check-up tomorrow, embryo transfer on Tuesday.

I feel pretty negative about the whole thing - I think I was so invested in the fresh cycle, and believed it was going to work so strongly, that I don't have enough energy or resilience to think positively about this one.

Anyone else having embryo transfer soon?

Nope, but my first FET is now downstairs making silly animal noises with his dad while I get a bit of a lie in on my last day of maternity leave. It can and does sometimes work first time: hope it does for you

Have you read that quite often frozen is more successful than fresh?!!?

My 3rd attempt at ivf, 1st try at frozen donated embryo inplant starts school,this week! 😀

I'd read that frozen can be more successful if its own eggs, because the wait gives the body time to recover, but I wasn't sure if it applied to donor eggs . . . fingers crossed!

MT FET is on his second day at preschool! It was our second FET but he was a day 5 embryo rather than a day 3. Best of luck xxx

I'm currently looking at the photos of the embryos and compare them to internet images to try to work out my chances . . . which is ridiculous but I can't help it. Being back at work tomorrow should distract me as I won't have time to obsess!

For those of you who had FETs - were any of the embryos not re-inflated when they were transferred? One of mine was still collapsed and I worry it wasn't doing so well. There's a big visual difference between the two:

They didn’t show us ours, or say whether it was reinflated. Just that it had thawed successfully.

Hmm . . . I almost wish I didn't have the photo; maybe ignorance is bliss in this kind of scenario . . .

Try to trust your embryologists. They know your body, they know your embryos, and it’s in their interest as well as yours to achieve a successful pregnancy.

It is absolutely normal to go a bit mad though. I don’t think our brains are evolved to have so much knowledge about our potential children when they’re still microscopic- it’s pretty much impossible to process either emotionally or intellectually. Hang in there, lots of mindfulness and being kind to yourself.

We didn't get to see ours until transferred it. We knew it had made it to day 5 so it was a good one bit nothing else.

Here he is at 3 years 7 months. It's so worth it. Good luck xx

I feel like there's such a massive leap between the transfer yesterday and an actual baby . . . it's surreal.

Thank you. Do you know when I gave birth they put him on my chest straight away and both my husband and I said "A baby!" We just couldn't believe it had really happened!

That surreal thing carries on, I found. You get to the end of birth and then suddenly there’s another person in the room and whilst you know that’s going to happen, somehow that feels an unbelievable leap as well.
