All, I just wanted to update you, as after MONTHS of emails phone calls and frustration I have sucsessfully got the CCG to change the funding protocols in our area so sperm is now funded as part of IVF on the NHS. The CCG policy always said it was, however the process was never set up so no one could access the funding, this meant the hospitals had not option but to ask everyone to self source. I pushed the issue as I felt it was wrong that they published a policy but then didn’t fulfil it. There was then a long argument surrounding foreign donors, which I again won after proving how few U.K. donors thier were, meaning limiting it to U.K. donors would be impossible. Anyway I got an email today saying I could expect a 1k refund this week. Good news for all, don’t take no for an answer if you need donation as part of treatment, contact your CCG and find out what you are eligble for! X
