Welcome TTC3! Why do you think you're in the wrong place? Of course you should join!

How long is the expected waiting list for donor egg? Are you doing this solo or with a partner?

pickle162 · 27/02/2017 20:11

Welcome tcc3 totally in the right place sweetie :) wow that is far away!!!!! Do u know how long the waiting list is? X

Bear1980 · 27/02/2017 20:12

Welcome ttc and good luck to all the other who are entering their TWOT, I am excited to get to that stage. I have my 1st appointment with a consultant in 2 weeks to discuss the results of my initial tests and possible treatment plans. I had 9 follicles and I think a really high AMH (56.5), not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing honestly. Seems to be good for IVF but I am hoping to start with IUI. pez my plan is similar to you, 3 IUI then IVF although that might change once I have spoken to the consultant.

Yay pickle on your positive opinion, I didn't record a surge this month but think I may have started testing to late. Ordered some cheap opks online so will start testing earlier next month.

Karendvm · 27/02/2017 20:14

Welcome ttc3. Definitely the right place!

TTC3years · 27/02/2017 20:19

Thanks for the welcomes Smile

Sorry I missed the point about why I didn't know if I was in the right place!!! I have a DH and most people seemed to be having donor sperm whereas we're donor eggs (DH is fine). Egg donation WL is 2 to 4 months. My local clinic is currently 18 months!!!

Karendvm · 27/02/2017 20:42

ttc3 I think it's just a fluke that a lot of us are single. There are plenty of couples doing iui and Ivf. Not sure how we ended up here together. But sure glad we have! You will bring different knowledge to the group. Ive wondered about donor eggs. Definitely harder to get those, I would think. So do you have to wait the 2-4 months or 18?

TTC3years · 27/02/2017 20:47

We'll be waiting 2-4 months as we're going to a clinic over 60 miles away. We had a bad experience with the Consultant at our local clinic so wouldn't go back there again x

pickle162 · 27/02/2017 21:02

Anyone tcc is welcome :) it's such a stressful emotional rollercoaster doing iui/ivf,the support here has got me through lots. So however you are tcc is good with us 🙂 My friend I made on my course last week is going to have egg share ivf too, I wanted to donate my eggs but they said my AMH of 9 probably wouldn't be enough to make enough eggs to share :(

StorkAhoy · 27/02/2017 21:03

ttc welcome, welcome! Here be the place for you, we have all sorts and the thing that links us all is that a donor of some description is involved somehow in our journey to become parents. Any questions, just ask! Also I'm curious, have you ever nvestigated an overseas clinic like Cyprus, you may find donor selection and availability easier, or so I've read! Regardless, I hope you are happy with your clinic. This is a big step, and you are bloody brave for doing what you're doing, as are we all.

hoping and pez I do my own injections, get an ice pack whack it on leg, prep injections, when leg is numb, inject away!

I'm excited this time, but I was anxious during my first round. This time it feels different, and I had acupuncture earlier so I'm chilled and calm!

pickle162 · 27/02/2017 21:06

Yes very glad to finally see the surge even if cd18!!!! Hopefully I'll get a temperature rise to indicate actual ovulation to

Pez82 · 27/02/2017 21:13

Is it conventional or mild/lite ivf you're doing stork? How may injections do you do per cycle? I was looking at the price of gonal f pens and they're scary expensive! I would be so worried to mess up with a £300 injection!!i also hope I wouldn't have to inject myself every single day Confused

TTC3years · 27/02/2017 21:25

Stork I think we do need to look into clinics abroad in a bit more detail but I am only just getting my head round egg donation!! One thing that does sway us to Cyprus is its completely anonymous whereas obviously that's no longer the case in the U.K.

Also I can provide a bit of help to those worrying about doing their own injections. I am the biggest wuss needle phobic person I know and thought there was no way I would be able to do it! The clinic were useless and just said do this, that and the other then stick it in your leg/tummy then pointed us in the direction of a video online. Bearing in mind we paid A LOT for this private cycle DH and I left a bit Confused

Anyway first time my hands were shaking so much I could barely penetrate the gel bit in the cap but I thought of the bigger picture and cracked on. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought. By the end I was doing them like a pro Smile. I don't want to sugar coat it though, the stomach ones stung fucking killed

StorkAhoy · 27/02/2017 21:41

I've just had a wobble with the menopur I'm on as thought I had the wrong amount in the syringe, but quick call with the emergency nurse line and all is fine, all done.

pez this time Im doing short protocol standard ivf. It's a 3-4 wk endeavour rather than a 6wk marathon. I'm on 2 injections gonalf and menopur for 4 days, then add a third cetrotide until egg collection on or around cd13. It's every day, at the same time.

And I say again, if you dread it, it will suck. Turn on your positive thoughts and say this is to make my dreams come true. Every injection gets you closer to your dream.

It's fine, promise!

pickle162 · 27/02/2017 21:52

Do you have to do injections at a certain time or just the same time each day? as having access to a fridge will be tricky during work week but can do before or after

TTC3years · 27/02/2017 22:02

Obviously it might be different dependent on the drugs but I was told a 2 hour window for the leg injections between 7pm to 9pm and then the tummy ones had to be exactly the same time each night but still in that window after leg ones (sorry I can't remember the drug names off the top of my head). I had an alarm set to take them out of the fridge at 7pm, start at 7.30 and was usually done by 7.40 Smile

pickle162 · 27/02/2017 22:07

Thanks tcc3 Yes I will definitely be relying on alarms for those

witchmountain · 27/02/2017 22:40

Pickle my injections were almost all in the evening (at the same time each day) with maybe a couple in the morning. Nothing at work.

Pez the pens are good and you get several doses out of each. Very fine needle and easy to use. I think my drugs were approx £1K per cycle and I had some left over. I had Gonal F to stimulate follicles for a few days, then coupled with Orgalutran to stop me ovulating and then Buserlin to trigger. Second cycle was Cetrotide instead of Orgalutran because no one could get any. I preferred Orgalutran because I had to mix the Cetrotide which freaked me out. I'll look up the numbers.

Welcome TTC3! You're right, I think we are all donor sperm so far and either single or in same sex relationships so far, maybe because those were the circumstances of the original posters, but I'm sure you'll be welcome.

My clinic had nurses show you how to do each injection in detail. I videoed the explanations on my phone so I could refer back to them. I did my own injections. All mine were stomach ones, no ice packs involved, that would have been worse than the jabs themselves! Probably legs hurt more, less fat, on me anyway.

I was DREADING the injections and they were absolutely fine. I didn't think positive thoughts, I just figured it must be possible. Grab a bit of stomach (I hope you're not super skinny!) rest needle against skin at 90 degrees and it just pushes in. No stabbing movement necessary! Weirdly I found sometimes one bit of skin didn't yield to the needle but if I moved it a fraction it would just slide in. I didn't have to do any leg ones. The ease depended on how thick the needle was but none of them were awful.

Hoping glad it went well.

Oh, Pez, I finally replied to your PM, sorry, I mumsnet on the app normally so didn't see it. Really appreciate the help!

Caution, is it Wednesday you've got the docs, or did I make that up? Karen very hopeful for you on Wednesday!

Kwick, hope you haven't already got Sunday Night Dread feeling about work xx

Pez82 · 27/02/2017 22:50

That's a lot of injections Stork! I hope I don't need that many Confused well in reality I hope I won't need any! If I do IVF is will be a mild cycle so light stimulation (I already produce a lot of follies on my own - lots of twins and triplets in the family!) and egg retrieval around day 10-11 so at most I'm looking at 8-9 days of stims (if I understood well)

Thanks ttc and witch for the advice - I'll make a note of it now. I'm quite skinny but I'll find some flesh somewhere! I was budgeting about £800 for drugs so that seems about right... but I guess I'll know for sure in a few days!

Pickle, it does seem real for you now, not long to go!! You have been so patient

Funny how now all I can focus on is starting an ivf cycle when I have an IUI lined up for the end of the week Wink

kwick · 28/02/2017 10:23

Sorry when I last posted, mine was the first and now there are over 160!!! It is moving so fast I cannot keep up... I hope I missed loads of BFPs?

StorkAhoy · 28/02/2017 10:42

Pez I can't comment on mild/lite IVF, only the standard long and short protocols, as thats all Ive experienced! But lets hope this one works for you and this becomes a non issue!

And my FC want me to do them at exactly the same time every night, so when I go for my scans they can calculate exactly how much drug is in my system, and can up/down medication as required to get the desired results.

And mine are all legs, and no pens, only syringes. I think a lot of this is dependent on the FCs preferences and drug company preference.

hey kwick!

kwick · 28/02/2017 10:56

pez I did a natural cycle of IVF - is that what you want more information on?

OP posts:
HopingForALittleOne · 28/02/2017 11:24

I'm listening with interest too kwick

Lovely to hear from you xx

Pez82 · 28/02/2017 11:43

Hi kwick! It looks like I'll be doing mild ivf so an hybrid between natural and conventional ivf - just a bit of stimulation to produce about 10 good quality eggs so I can hopefully freeze a few. The benefit is that it works along my cycle, they would retrieve eggs prior to natural ovulation and transfer them a few days later. If the transferred one(s) don't implant, I would do another ET the following month a few days after my natural ovulation. Success rates are about 50%. I looked into natural ivf but I'm worried I would only produce one egg.
It does sound too good to be true - sure there must be a catch?

I'll go for an AMH blood test tomorrow so they can look at meds.

Pez82 · 28/02/2017 11:44

I obviously meant freeze fertilised eggs, not just the eggs Wink

kwick · 28/02/2017 12:38

pez that sounds very interesting...unfortunately, even when I am on mega doses, I never get beyond a couple of eggs.
