How to approach

I’ve been feeling lonely for some time in my marriage and in my opinion we both bring out the worst in each other and make each other unhappy. I’m more and more thinking that divorce or separation is the only option but not sure how to approach the situation.

For context, my DHs mental health is in a pretty poor state and whilst I believe this is one of the reasons why the marriage is like it is I worry about it getting worse for him if I mention separation. We’ve also had a pretty rough year with family bereavement and medical issues which just add to the trauma of this year.

Ive tried to bury my feelings for so long but im at the point now where if i don’t do something my own mental and physical health is going to get worse than it already is.

Just wondered if anyone had any advice or had been/ is in a similar situation

Didn't want to read and run. I could've written these exact words. My DH tends to bury his head in the sand over issues, then I get accused of starting arguments if I bring things up. I feel like I can't win.

We will be away for a family hol soon so I think I'll have to try to have a conversation when there's no work/daily life in the way. I can't see how he's happy with the situation either.

I've suggested counselling in the past, and he agrees but left it all to me to sort. Which I'm reluctant to do as it feels like I'm forcing him to do something he isn't really bothered about.
