Changing mediators after MIAM invitation

Hi, is anyone aware of the rules about what happens if I do agree to mediate, but don’t want to use the company that ex suggests?

i didn’t like them last time and found they complicated things and created a few new issues that weren’t there (eg ex used to do all the drop offs and pick ups, they suggested this should be split, even though I do everything for child on all the other days and when he has child is my only fortnightly me time. Since then he has clung onto this annoyingly!)

an issue is brewing again and he asked me to mediate, I was about to send the name of another company but now that I’ve got the MIAM invite, if I turn this specific company down, will they issue him the MIAM certificate for court application? I would ideally like to say no but I will use one of these three mediators, but I won’t if that opens the door to him doing a family court application immediately.

Thanks all!

You can ask die another mediator if it's not a one person company.

Mediators shouldn't be making suggestions. It goes against the principles of mediation.

Haha, ask, not die 😊

I know, they were so annoying. Also asked ‘will baby be allowed a holiday with his dad’ when we were mediating about arrangements for his first ever overnight and dad hasn’t even asked for a holiday!
