child maintenance how does it work.

Hi looking for advice.
How does CMS work. i have separated from my partner who i share 1 child with. my ex has another child from a previous relationship that he has a private arrangement regarding maintenance with. If i went through cms will they calculate my payment as two children get the amount and then give me half of that as my maintenance? i’m not sure how it works with him having one private arrangement in place with his ex and then if i went through cms for my child?

If you google CMS calculator you can put the info in and it will tell you what you are entitled to. It will ask whether they pay for another child, how many kids live with him, how many nights DC stays with him/you so you’ll get a good idea of what maintenance should look like.
