Hi, I’m trying to fill in my D81 form for my consent order.. I’m finding it really confusing to fill in, my solicitor isn’t great at calling me back. Does anyone know where I can get some help on how to fill it in?
I'm on a really tight deadline as need the money for a deposit to move house.
thank you

In my experience, there are no short-cuts to doing this OP. You have to find all the information yourself, no one else is going to be able to do that for you. Yes some agencies and solicitors can guide you but they don't know your financial details.
It would help if you shared general details of what property/assets you are dividing and if there are private pensions involved. Yes it's frustrating but it's a step you can't skip, it's there to protect you (both). Your DH will have to complete one too.
It's not a quick process, once completed, it can take upto 10 weeks or so to be granted.

You can fill out and submit a joint d81….. that’s what generally happens.

What bits are you struggling with op

It might help to think of the D81 as having two parts. I’m assuming you’ve already agreed everything before filling it in, because the D81 is just to show the court the numbers.

The first part is what things look like now. You write down your current savings, your share of the equity in properties , any debts, and your current income, including benefits or child maintenance.

The second part is what things will look like after the consent order is carried out. So if you’re getting a lump sum, your savings would go up by that amount, or your debts would go down if you’re using it to pay them off.

The point of the D81 is simply to show the judge your situation before the agreement and your situation after, so they can check it all makes sense and is fair.
