When I got divorced 5 years ago, my ex did most of the paperwork. We did not use solicitors but got a free/cheap Consent Order online and it was approved first go.
I’m now trying to help my partner do his and we’re getting in a bit of a muddle. The internet seems to be giving conflicting advice so asking here for collective Mumsnet wisdom.
Most importantly he and his ex have agreed terms, he has the completed D81 and purchased online a template for a Separation Agreement. Is this different to a Consent Order? It all looks sufficiently formal but research suggests it’s not legally enforceable? Yet elsewhere it seems to suggest that the judge can use it to issue a Consent Order?
If, as I suspect, it needs to be rewritten, does anyone have any recommendations for an online resource for a free draft or a low-cost law firm? TIA
