Midlife crisis?

Hi, my husband and I separated this summer aft 5 kids and 15 years of marriage, 20 years together. In a nutshell he had a meltdown, took drugs for 8 months behind my back , kicked off infront of the kids and assaulted me and needed up on bail. I’ve not spoken to him since august due to the bail. He’s 45 . He came out as bisexual, said he’s been unhappily married since his father dies and has now started hanging around with a load of 19 year olds. Do you think it’s a spectacular midlife crisis? I’m just about to file for divorce from him

That sounds very hard, I hope you and the kids are doing ok.

Kindly, does it matter if it's a midlife crisis? Although it certainly sounds like a classic later life panic attempt to reclaim his lost youth, he's behaved like a total twat either way.

The amount of men that supposedly have a "breakdown" when their parents die. How many women do you know that start taking drugs, shagging 19 year olds and wearing leather trousers because their mother died? There's no excuse for the so called male mid life crisis. Basically he's done the whole "family" thing and now he's had enough. He wants out. He sounds like a pathetic, violent cunt and I can't believe you'd lose your dignity by taking him back. Let him go OP and file for divorce. He'll only bring you misery.

Spectacular indeed, I'm sorry you're going through this, it's not your fault. Divorce the self indulgent arsebadger, and look forward to better days ahead for you and the kids OP. They need one decent parent, and turns out that's got to be you.

You've got this. 💕
