Financial Consent Order processing times

How long are financial consent orders currently taking to be signed off and sealed? The family court received our consent order just before the end of October and I have received no news on how long it might take. My hopes are fading that it may be signed off before Christmas or even before the new year!

Years I was told! 2 years easily

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 16/12/2025 14:13

Mine took just under a month recently

FancyCatSlave · 16/12/2025 14:18

Mine was filed 12 November and sealed 11 December. I didn’t hear until the 15th though and I got the final order today.

Nonsense.
Consent orders take weeks for most people, they quote 6 weeks but 4 seems to be average.

Are you talking about financial remedy hearings? They are quite different.

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 26/12/2025 18:00

Still waiting! Who else is waiting for their financial consent order to be approved over Christmas and the new year? It's been over eight weeks for me now and, with all of the bank holidays at this time of year, I am unlikely to hear anything for at least the next ten days. 🙄

Sorry to hear that! I expected that to be us but ours came through within 4 weeks (12 Nov submitted, 11 Dec approved). We heard on the 15th and divorce finalised on the 16th.

What date was it allocated to a judge? That took 2 weeks for us, then 2 weeks for them to look at it.

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 26/12/2025 21:11

@FancyCatSlave I don't know what date it was allocated to a judge. I've had no updates whatsoever, unfortunately. Our consent order was drafted during an FDR hearing at family court, so I'm not sure if the process is different from if the consent order had been drafted without going to court.

@FancyCatSlave did you get your consent order agreed in the end? I submitted mine in December and haven’t heard yet. Ours went to Birmingham - where did yours go?

Yes ours was Birmingham, it was sealed on 11 December so 4 weeks after we submitted and final order granted 16 December.

badbadders1 · 19/01/2026 22:18

Thanks @FancyCatSlave ! Just realised I asked the wrong person, so sorry! Iwanttobreakfree2 Have you had your consent order agreed yet? Thanks!

AlbertineViv · 20/01/2026 11:48

Mine took 3 months! It was straightforward too. Solicitor had to keep chasing. Birmingham.
Good luck

badbadders1 · 20/01/2026 15:03

Thanks @AlbertineViv was yours after a court hearing or contested? Or was it a simple consent order? Thanks!

badbadders1 · 20/01/2026 15:04

Also @AlbertineViv , did you submit yours electronically? Thanks!

AlbertineViv · 20/01/2026 15:17

The solicitor submitted it to the portal. I thought that might speed up the process!

My original divorce application was paper, due to poor advice. I was a single applicant andDH was automatically set up electronically. In the end he was telling me updates as snail mail post was painfully long....

Anyway, the Decree Absolute...I posted it on a Mon. By Weds he had notification we were divorced. Lightning speed!

badbadders1 · 20/01/2026 17:38

@FancyCatSlave it’s great to know yours only took 4 weeks at Birmingham! Mine will have been with them 4 weeks today - so maybe tomorrow! Who knows! 🙏🏼🤞

badbadders1 · 20/01/2026 17:40

@AlbertineViv so it sounds like a mix of post and digital may have slowed it down a bit? I’m really happy for you that yours is completed now though! 👏 Congrats!

AlbertineViv · 21/01/2026 00:18

Thank you, yes maybe. Hope yours is sorted soon too - keep us posted.

Came across this and it feels like im not alone. Consent order submitted 9th Dec, passed to judge 23rd Dec. Still no updates yet. Been the longest wait!

Sorry to hear you haven't heard yet! Is yours with Birmingham too? It's awful having to wait isn't it? Not knowing if your joint decision will be agreed by the judge. I hope we both hear very soon! 😥

Hi
How do you know what date the consent order was passed to a judge?

Hi
How do you know what date the consent order was passed to a judge?

My solicitor could see that on their portal, I asked.

is your case with Birmingham or somewhere else?

4kids1dog3fish · 23/01/2026 17:33

Tbh im not sure. My solicitor is dealing with it all. The conditional order was Birmingham. Not sure if it all goes through the same court

CleverOpalBalonz · 30/03/2026 13:41

Does anybody know if 4 weeks is still the average for Birmingham? Mine was submitted 2 weeks ago by my solicitor.
