Lost divorce papers

Hi folks,
I will soon be eligible to claim state pension and understand that one of the documents I need is a decree absolute. (someone correct me if I am wrong)

I have no idea what happened to this document, I am talking 30+ years ago now and can't remember the year, date or anything.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how I go about getting a copy with very limited information to hand please?

Gi to your local register Office ( often the town hall ) and have a chat with the staff there.
I am going through a similar situation aa I have to find my deceased Dh divorce papers from his previous wife from 20+ yrs ago.

Take any proof of who you are like your birth certificate, marriage certificate etc.
It took a while but the staff were fantastic and I got what I needed.

Cost varies on the certificate and how quick you want it posting between about £15 ( 2 week delivery) £45 2/3 days delivery.
