When we split up my ex took with him a savings account (20k and agreed this would be taken into account when we did the financial settlement ) that I had fully funded plus a 40k pickup truck that I had purchased. If we agree a 50/50 split this would be about 200k each could I say you get 140k because you have already had 60k ?

Shouldn't it be 170k / 230k?

That would make it look like I’m getting 57.5%

If ex has already had 60k, you'd end up with 230k each. (Unless I misunderstood your figures. I assumed ex had already had 60k and there is 400k left to divide.)

We did similar / agreed 50:50 on house equity but when it sold he got 450 I got 650 as I’d already given him 150

Thanks for your reply - So your total pot was 1.1m so 50/50 would have been 550k each so if 150k was taken from his share wouldn’t he have had 400k ? Or am I’m missing something

Is the total amout to be split 460k (400k equity + 40k truck + 20k savings)? If so then a 50/50 split would be 230k each.

As your ex already had 60k from the truck and savings, then the remaining 400k should be split 230k to you and 170k to your ex (which would total 230k with the 40k truck and 20k savings).

Sorry I took 600 not 650 but principle was we agreed to split equity 50:50 ( and keep our own pensions and other assets) and I’d lent him 150k cask so deducted that from the equity pot

No it’s just 400k because the truck and savings have disappeared. I’ve just remembered I gave him 10k to pay a tax bill - yes I’m a soft touch!
