Am I being unreasonable?

I separated from my partner in February this year and we are still living together with our young children while the divorce goes through.

We have a three story home and she has the entire second floor which is the converted loft which she uses as a bedroom, office, Lego room and her own en-suite.

I’m in the main bedroom below and have asked her numerous times to move her stuff out. She keeps coming in to get clothes, make-up etc and sometimes does this when I’m in bed asleep. She’s basically refusing to move her stuff, claiming there isn’t enough room on her floor.

It is massively stressing me out as I don’t feel like I have anywhere to go that’s my own. Am I being unreasonable asking her to move her stuff?

I have no experience of your situation, but just wondering why you can't move her stuff for her, then that will solve the problem and you will have your own space.

Not unreasonable at all.

suggest a deadline then after that put a lock on the door?

CaptainFuture · 03/07/2025 13:21

Move the stuff... lock for door. Do you go in and out of her space?

Have you ever seen that film 'The War of the Roses'?

Might be worth a watch

I would wait until she goes out and put all her stuff up on her floor.
if she continues to come into your room, put a lock on your door. You’re entitled to your own space.

It’s unacceptable to enter your bedroom when you’re asleep. Have you considered getting a lock if she won’t move her stuff? I would personally move her stuff then install a bedroom lock.

I suspect that she doesn’t want a cluttered living area or she wants to annoy you.
