Married 3 years, we have a mortgaged maisonette worth approx £360k with £244k remaining. Together 10 years. Young child and 7 together plus my young 18 year old from prev relationship.

relationship is dead. No affection, found out hes made his 2 credit cards default and has lied that his finances are in order. Just doesn’t communicate with me at all.

i want to start preparing to leave. I feel emotionally abused by him. Doesn’t take accountability, doesn’t spend on child financially or mentally. Really embarrassed to tell my family. His mum knows and has tried to talk to him.

i could afford the mortgage by making some changes. He could not even if we shared equity.

where do I start? Will my kids and I be homeless?

You start by filing the divorce paperwork and getting a list of all the assets together.

Only when you can clearly see what the assets/debts are will you be able to make him an offer going forward.

What do you mean when you say he doesn't spend financially on your child? Is your child going without?

not going without because i provide for them but they only allocate money for household cost and doesn’t buy our child anything
