Hi
I need to make a claim for universal credit.
We have applied for divorce.
We live in the same home and share care of children while waiting for house sale ect.

We have a joint account that household bill come out of. Husband currently pays money into this to cover bills. I have an account and pay for other things for children.

My question is can we maintain joint account for bills/mortage? And only husband pay into it.

I don't think so. All bills and accounts need to be seperate otherwise it will have to be a joint claim.

Hmmmm, I think it’s defined by things like making meals and doing washing. If you can show you have your own account and money is seperate in that manner. If he pays the bills from a joint account but you both have seperate too that’s fine

If he is financially supporting you then you have a financial connection. If he is the only one paying into the joint account that pays for the household bills then you are financially connected. Instead you should be both paying half of the bills from your own accounts.

If you are still sharing finances and living together I don't think you can claim as a single person.
