When did you divorce?

I’ve told my story on here recently (‘Lost’). We have been separated for 6 weeks (his choice) and he’s now dating someone else, which breaks my heart.

He’s in no rush for a divorce. I thought he would be, but it’s not something that he’s thinking about right now.

I just wondered:

How long after separating did you divorce?

Did you get back together after separating?

I’m stupid really, thinking there may be hope, especially as he asked someone on a date at the same time I was begging him to come back.

I started divorce proceedings as soon as I separated. So I was decree absolute divorced within 6 months. I needed the financial aspects to be clear before I started to rebuild my life.

He's probably in no rush for the messy admin, if he's already dating he's moved on. I'm sorry it's so painful, but hope that stringing out the legal stuff will make him change his mind is not going to help you medium or long term

Separated for almost 6 months, he wasn’t in a rush at all, buried his head completely as he enjoyed his new life with his ‘distraction’ (the new woman!), but as in first post, I wanted financial stability. I want to know where I stand so I eventually got him to start the process. I’ve just signed it this week.

From separation to decree absolute it took 2 years and 1 month.
There was a lot of acrimony, back and forth via solicitors. We started court proceedings re the children but went to mediation, and almost to court for finances .
