I hope there may be some advice/reassurance please.
Married 23yrs, never a happy marriage, he has always done his own thing, never interested in days out with me and kids. I even took them on holidays by myself (only cheap UK ones).
2 kids both adults but our son has severe disabilities and medical issues. He is like a toddler (mentality wise) and requires 24/7 care. I have devoted my life to caring for him whilst working flexible part time hours to earn some money.
Desperate to get out of this unhappy marriage but I will need 50% of all assets including his pension to buy a home for my son and me, giving him the care he needs and making everything safe for him.
Husband has contributed the money but I have cared day & night for my boy, sorted all school, clubs etc always do activities with him and sort all hospital appts etc.
I know he will argue its his money and not agree.
Anyone have any idea if I stand a chance at this?
It's been total misery for over 20yrs with him I honestly cannot bear it anymore!

Op you really really need to just get yourself to a solicitor

any advice will be pure speculation based on scant detail

are you being hyperbolic here or is this the truth and he is very seriously
learning impaired and has never worked and can’t work?

Husband has contributed the money

a man with the capacity of a two year old requiring 24/7 care earns money and has a pension?

ShanBrom · 21/05/2025 15:24

No no I mean our son. He has severe learning difficulties complex needs, not my husband!
Husband has a managerial job in the city

I think you misunderstood the post.

OP, find your local Citizens Advice Beurou. They will signpost you to an affordable local solicitor. You might be able to get more than half of family assets if you are your son's main carer

ShanBrom · 21/05/2025 15:25

No that's not about the husband!
I was explaining our son's disabilities
