Yeeessss :) I'm divorced

I'm still best mates with my ex-husband, we have been separated for 8 years but never got around to getting divorced. He met a new (slightly crazy gf, imo) and this spurred him on to arrange a divorce. It has just come through, so I'm now officially divorced.

Exh will be moving to Thailand to start a new life, leaving me and our son to get on with it.

Even though we have been separated for years, this feels different. Definitely an end of an era.

Just hoping I can meet someone and be happy just like he has ...

It's a weird feeling isn't it, but ultimately good. My ex went abroad to live too. Why did you not divorce before now though?

How can you be 'best mates' with the man planning to abandon his child?

@VexedofVirginiaWater agree it feels weird but in a good way. We hadn't bothered getting divorced as life got in the way and there just didn't seem to be a reason too

First off... Rude!!

Second, the 'child' is 19 years old, so no abandoning happening, he is going on to live his life!

This is a man/father who, when my grandmother developed Alzheimer's and i had to move in with my GP to help, guess who moved in with me! yep exh. When I had a mental breakdown and needed years to get back to myself, guess who became a SAHD, yup, exh!

Sorry, but I am this man's biggest and loudest cheerleader... He has gone above and beyond for MY family, and if he wants to travel 1/2 way across the world for love, I'm gonna be right there supporting him, just as he has supported me from the day we met. He is an amazing man and amazing co-parent who has stepped up for our son so many times when I couldn't... so yes, he is my 'best mate'

Please tell me it’s not a much younger woman though..
but congrats, when my papers came through I had a party lol

She is 2 years younger than him.... and def feels like a celebration is needed :)
