So I'm newly separated and short of money. And I have less than £100 in my account until I get paid next week.

So please share your tips on how you have managed to increase your income or make savings.

One option I have is to write a life story. Couple of friends have mentioned it to me over the years. The rough plot involves growing up in a different country, boarding schools, going incognito, minority person in the village (think League of Gentlemen😆) 1st husband turns out to be transgender, ivf baby and 2nd husband is cold due to his upbringing. It's a tragedy but funny in a way it's happened to someone like me. And I am still flipping cup half full, what can I say I am conditioned to please 😊

Please do share your experience and wisdom my lovely Mumsnetters💜

Sorry about the spelling mistake in the title. I don't know how to amend it 😊

I have zero tips, but I am genuinely curious about the 1st husband turning out to be transgender 🤔
Glad you are a cup half full kinda person though as there seems to have been a fair bit of crap thrown your way

@Whowhatwhere21 things were very different 20 odd years ago and society was having a hard time accepting gays never mind transgender male to female. Thankfully they have a voice and rights these days. And my ex and I have managed to remain amicable over the years to give our DD the best life we could.

I think I'll start writing it down anyway whilst waiting for a better paid job to turn up 😁

That is really great that you've managed to stay amicable as I imagine that was a very hard position for you to find yourself in at the time! I think it's great that you've found a way to make ot work for you all and hopefully you both have happiness.

Definetly get writing! We have a local guy who wrote a book about his life which was actually pretty standard for a lot of people. He whacked it on amazon and did really well from it

Making money from writing is incredibly hard - if you self publish you will get more money but you have to put a lot of effort into marketing to get it out there. If you are looking to traditionally publish then you’d need to put together a proposal and look for an agent accepting non-fiction and then you might get an advance.

If you are looking to share your story and make money from it you might be better off looking at article writing and find online magazines that will pay…there are lot of LGBTQ+ publications that might be a good fit.

If you’re not particularly a writer but think your story would be of interest then maybe contact some magazines and see if they’ll pay for your stories.

Thank you for your responses, I hadn't considered your suggestions. I was getting carried away with stories like Slumdog millionaire etc :-)
