Maintenance Age Clarification (Scotland)

Hi folks

Anyone divorced in Scotland can clarify something for me? (don't want to pay stupid money to a sol if a singular question can be generally answered quickly lol.

I've been divorced for about 4/5 years and part of the agreement is that the ex would pay me a lump sum every month as child maintenance - the wording of it essentially says that the agreement stands as long as the youngest child is a) in full time education up until the age of 19 and b) living with me.

Youngest will turn 19 in Sept this year and so I'm starting to prepare for maintenance stopping but then I thought if DS is at college (he currently is and is thinking about continuing next year) does it mean on his 19th birthday or up until the day before his 20th birthday next year??? The wording in the divorce agreement is ambiguous.....so don't know if I'm rushing around to sort stuff for this September when I actually have a bit more time to prepare?

TIA

19th birthday. What I would do is speak to your ex about maybe sending an amount to your child to help them whilst at college. My brother does that, he stopped paying to his ex and started sending the money to his kids directly, it helps pay my Nephews rent etc as he is at Uni away from home. He sends a ‘care package’ each month too with food, toiletries etc.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have no contact with my ex (haven't done since divorce details were agreed and even most of that was through the solicitors) as he was abusive - ex already gives/helps out to older DD as she is at uni (arranged directly between ex and DD) so imagine he will just do the same for younger DS as well as needed.

19th birthday. It stops that day.
After that he is over 19, ie 19 and four days or whatever.

His dad paying him direct is what many do.
