Energy tariff- fix or no fix during separation?

I’m in the process of divorcing finding mediator, but in the mean time we live together with 2 kids. Recently I’ve read about energy tariff changes from April on money saving website.
I suggested to fix the price (believe cut off is tomorrow), he was going to do it till few days ago and now he is refusing to sign up. I suspect because he’s trying to give me financial pressure and energy bill is not his interest.

I said it can be signed in single name, and the house will still be lived in for a while (if not you or I can take the contract to the next house), but he is absolutely refusing to do so.

Please could anyone help, am I missing something, is it better not to sign up?! Thanks in advance.
