I started my divorce application in September. Next month, I will reach the final two stages (12 weeks)?

So far it was me applying and husband signing, no legalities involved. It is amicable at the moment, no rush in te4ms of I think we have up to a year to finalise a sivorce.

We both share a house, kids at uni and were planning on keeping tye house on together until uni ends. I went part-time for a long time for the kids and my pension took a hit. Financially I need to sort all of the above.

I don't know what to do next to find the most cost effective way to sort this, whether to employ a ££ solicitor or whether there is a mediation service we can use. If ao, should I be doing this now? Any advice welcomed please!

Try mediation. If you are able to have a reasonable conversation, & are willing to listen to each others point of view, you should be able to come to an agreement that works for you both

Mediation is lose/lose
You won’t ’get it all’
So focus on what’s important to you - whether that’s equity, pension or cash assets
But know you can’t have it all!

Good Luck - hope you can come to an agreement - then all you need is abit of legal advice on the agreement & the cost of drafting that rather than paying for every email back & forth
