Post divorce - no financial order

Stupidly agreed to split our only asset (house sale) before agreeing a financial order.
Divorce was finalised 6 months ago.

Ex won't communicate but I am desperate to get the financial order sorted retrospectively.

My question is can I do the paperwork myself or is it advisable to get a solicitor involved? To my mind it is a straightforward split 50/50 split with each keeping own similar size pension.
I do feel I've been above and beyond generous but I just to be rid of ex now.

Do I just need to complete a statement of information form and submit with D81?
Do I need to involve ex or will the court contact him to get paperwork completed?

If you want a consent order your ex needs to sign it and provide the information for the statement in support, the Court does not do it. Also the order needs to be drawn up by a solicitor quoting the correct terminology. The solicitor would also advise you whether it can be done now the divorce has been finalised or if it too late

It's not too late. Divorce is entirely separate from financial order. You will probably need a solicitor to draw up the agreement unless you're confident doing it yourself (there are standard wording forms online). It's 58 quid to submit if signed by you both.

If he refuses to do it you can submit a notice to show cause which basically says we've already done this so it should be made formal.

But it's not the end of the world lots of people conclude divorce before finances have been formalised.

Are you worried that the house sale won’t be split equally?

Thank you. House equity was split months ago
