Contacting ex

Has anyone reached out to an ex to restart contact after a long period of absence (years) if you have how did you go about it?

i've found a few ex's on facebook and messaged them to say "hello, what you up to these days".

Sorry I meant in regards to restarting contact with the children..

No i've never done that. My ex maintained contact with our 3 kids which was good, but i'm certainly never gonna ask someone to see their own kids - if they can't be bothered to see them without me asking them to then they can fuck off. Me and my kids can do just fine without them.
