When we split the money from the house sale, I want 60:40. He wants 55:45
The difference is about £24k
Shall I just cave in and agree 55:45 to save hassle, not to mention solicitors fees?

What did you each put in?
Is the property 50: 50 ownership?
Is it mortgaged and who pays what?
So many things upon which to base the decision.

Guttedandblue · 25/01/2025 05:46

Could you split the difference?

Do you not have a financial order?

millymollymoomoo · 25/01/2025 07:25

Are you married?

LemonTT · 25/01/2025 07:56

Why do you think you need 10% more and why does he think it should be 5%?

Based on the very limited information there is a good pot of money. Just short of 500k. In most parts of the country 50% of that would meet needs even if you are on a modest or low income.

People can provide more advice with more information. Ages, take home income (not just salary), housing market conditions, child dependents and treatment of other assets such as pensions.

Are you married? Are there children? Are there any other assets?

Mumof3confused · 25/01/2025 13:47

have you offered to split the difference?
